CGM NEWSLETTER
Dec./Jan. 2009-10
It has been a most exciting and challenging year. God has blessed the ministry in so many ways. The financial difficulties of the year has present CGM with the opportunity to be creative in the way we budget. Yet so many opportunities have also come our way to help golfers everywhere to carry the message of Christ to a lost and dying world. As we move into 2010 we are working on several special State partnerships that can help give many poeple the opportunity to come to know Christ. Our Events have been challenged with the economyyet God has blessed us anyway! As 2010 come we are working on a new look for our web site and creating better and easier ways for you to use the site for the Kingdom. We are looking at many new relationships that can bring new opporunties to the ministry and our Member/Partners. For almost 18 years now God has blessed this ministry and we believe that He will continue to do so! We are excited about 2010 and ask for your prayers as we change the web site , some of our old events, prepare for new events and new ways for Churches and denominations to partner with CGM to reach the lost. We will NEVER leave the main mission of "individual golfers sharing their faith everytime they play the game". We only look to imporve our communications and opportunity fo us all.
We ar CGM wish a wonderful Christmas Seson and the beginning of a great New Year for you and all you attemt to do for the Kingdom of God.

Blessing - Billy Hutchinson,
Exe. Director, CGM/BHIM

Winter 2009

It is hard to believe that CGM has been in service of the Lord since 1993. God has really blessed this ministry and allowed us to be a small part in the Kingdom for all these years. Just like all of you 2008 was a hard year. The ministry was able to somehow make it through the year and into 2009. God is good! All of our events and membership renewals were down in numbers as well as new memberships. We know that it is the economy. Yet, we trusted God and he delievered. As we move toward spring 2009 I know that God will continue to see us through. During 2008 there were 647 hits to the "How to become a Christian" link on the web page. CGM will always be about telling other (golfers) about the wonderful news of Jesus Christ. We will be faithful first to that effort. Thantk you to the many who have for so many years been faithful to this cause of Christ. As we move toward the furutre I believe God leads us onward and forward.
I hope you might be a part of one of our 2009 events or maybe even consider sponsoring a new event in your area. Check out the Tournament link page for the details for 2009 as we know them now and watch for future details as final plans are made! You can find registration forms and information at the Tournament link on this site. Check it out and sign up. We need you to play but more importantly we want to fellowship with all our CGM friends!

Summer 2008

As summer is in full swing so is the ministry of CGM. God blessed us this spring with several wonderful things. First the April event at Caraway conference Center in Ashboro, NC was a great time. We gathered with 80 golfers and enjoyed a time of fellowship, spiritual growth and sharing from several of those present about how God was using them for the Kingdom. Special thanks to Rick Bailey from Greenville, NC, Tommy Walker from Chase City, VA, Ron Nida from Lake Gaston, NC for sharing their minitries. Board Member Ron Long topped the day together with a HOLE IN ONE on number 3 and then later that night was presented the 'FOUNDER'S AWARD" for over 15 years of comitted service to CGM. Thanks Ron for all you do!!
It continues to amaze me how God is using CGM all over the world. New partners come in regular from all over and God is using those peole to share the message of Christ using the tools and making themselves available to spread the message of the Savior. KEEP DROPPING THOSE TEES! Since January the web site has had over 8000 visitors with 12, 200 hits to our pages. Of those, 283 people have gone to the "How to become as Christian" page. Praise God for those and those who have come to Christ for the first time or even renewed their comitttement to the Lord. Let's continue to pray together for God to use CGM for his glory only as we see many more come to him.
This time of year brings a very busy season for CGM. Just around the corner, July 12 is the Eastern Classic in New Bern, NC. Our oldest gathering for the ministry. This will be the 13th year and that is exciting. Doug Guider, Tournament Dirctor for the Eastern Classic has a great time planned for all of us. You can find registration forms and information at the Tournament link on this site. Check it out and sign up. We need you to play but more importantly we want to fellowship with all our CGM friends! Then right around the corner is the the Southside Virginia Christain Classic, August 23, at Lake Gaston Golf Course. This is the seventh year that Tommy Walker and Wes Mcaden have directed this event and we are looking forward to a wonderful time there. Registration and infomation is available on the tournament link.
September 8-9 we will return to Caraway Conference Center for our annual Retreat and Conference. We will be playing Ashboro Country Club on Monday and Holly Ridge Golf Club on Tuesday. This is always a great time and we encourage you to join us there. Registration and information is available on the tournament link . In October we hope to bring back the Coastal Classic event in South Eastern North Carolina. You will get the information soon. Later in October I will be with Faith Baptist Church in the Baltimore, MD area as the speaker for their annual Men's Golf Retreat. Please pray for God to work through us all during that retreat.
I also wanted you to know about a wonder opportunity in Richmond, Virginia on September 26-27. The Men's Ministry of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board is sponsoring a MEN'S GATHERING at Ridge Baptist Church. The Speakers and Worship leaders will be HENRY BLACKABY and TOM BLACKABY. The Worship will also feature the wonderful music and fun of DERWIN HINSON MINISTRIES. For information and details check out this Men's Ministry link. This going to be a great time for anyone (male and female) who is looking to grow in Christ.
Summer is a busy time! Please pray for all the events mentioned above. Also pray for our Son Will (CGM Ministry Associate) who will getting married on July 13 in New Bern the day after the Eastern Classic to Brittany Bowling. We are excited for them and looking forward to welcoming Brittany into our family and the CGM family.
God is doing a mighty work all around us!
Be prepared for Him to use YOU!
Dr. Billy Hutchinson , Executive Director-CGM/BHIM

MARCH 2003

It is cold and Winter has seemed long! Having talked with many people just like me who have played very little since November 07. However I did have a conversation with one of our Partners in California the other day and the first part of February he was playing everyday in 68-70 degree sunny weather! Maybe I need to work out there more this time of year!

We are very excited about the 2008 season for Christian Golfers Ministry. The registration forms for the CGM/Caraway Conference Center Golf Retreat went out on Feb.. 11 and they are already coming in steady and strong. If you have not sent yours please do so soon as we must cut it off at 120 golfers. If you did not get a form then just click on the Tournament Information link here and go to that information block where you can print off a form. Check all the tournament dates and watch for new events. Plan your calendars accordingly. Once April hits it will move fast as there are now events almost every month. We are always looking for new events places and partners. So if there is not an event near you contact me and let's talk! God continues to bless us with new opportunities and present us with lost people. Let's be faithful to serve Him!
Many of you receive the weekly articles "I Was just Thinking ......". I am excited to announce that you can now purchase the book with the 2007 collection of those articles. The book is only $10.97 plus shipping (be sure to pick the cheapest shipping) by going to my book store link at www.lulu.com/cgmbhim1 . Please send us your prayer request and we will post them. Also go there often to find the new post and PRAY for all the request! The schedule for ministry opportunities which include mind and Diane's opportunities is connected to the BHIM link! This way you can keep up with us and also know when we are available to be in your church for a Ministry Evangelism Concert, Intentional Conversation Workshop, Retreat, Revival or any other opportunity. Please call on us! Filling that schedule is important for the future and security of the ministry efforts. We have committed to this work as our primary life work and need your help to fill up our schedule with opportunities. The "Intentional Conversations" workshops have been tested and the book should be available by the end of March. This is a great way of learning and thinking of ways to use every situation in your life to share and talk about our Savior. We will have some recommendations and references on the workshop posted soon. If your church might be interested in a workshop on the 'Intentional Conversations"subject please contact me. Hopefully in the very near future we will have the web site set up to handle Credit Card payments for all the events. This will be an added feature for the tournament participants and registration. If you wish to use your credit card before everything is complete let me know by email and I can help make it happen. Let me Thank you for your support in pray and finances. You keep us going. We will have some really neat announcements soon about the track and future of CGM and BHIM. So you keep praying! For all of you who have ask we will be changing the pictures soon in the picture gallery. We will also be up dating the suggested links page. So if you, your church, your ministry or one you might recommend is not a part of our links page let me know. Let's get them add to this one and CGM added to theirs! Our dear friend in Ministry Derwin and Alene Hinson have ventured our in faith. Alene is now working with the ministry full time. Pray for them and what God is doing with Derwin Hinson Ministries! check out their site and Newsletter at www.derwinhinson.com and they can be found on our links page. Also please pray for our friends Ken and Johnny Marks. Johnny is a Music Evangelist and Campground pastor in eastern North Carolina. Ken suffered a major accident in Feb.. that caused him to lose one of his legs. he is recovering. However, the road is long and there are many obstacles and situation that need direction and pray. I know we can count on each other as God's family for prayer for them during this time.
Blessings to you, watch for email notices of changes to the site and announcements of things to come!

JANUARY 2008

With 2007 in the History Books we are all looking forward to "New Beginnings" in 2008. We are working on several things for the new year and hoping that all of you will be able to be a part of CGM 2008. The tournament dates are now posted and new events are always possible and in the works. The December - April months are always hard on the ministry financially. This is not our season and lots of planning is be done and new things set in motion. So if you have not made your renewal donation consider doing it soon! Our ministry continues to expand and golfers come to Christ in exciting numbers. As of December we have had 23934 Visitors to our web site. That is an average of almost 2000 per month. The most exciting there were 643 visitors to our "How to become a Christian" link on this web site. How exciting to know that those people were interested in what Christ might do for them because of CGM. During 2007 we contributed over $3000 to local charities and 200 bag Bibles to tournaments and evangelistic events. God is good!

Have you ever been on FACEBOOK? If you are a member of Face Book Christian Golfers Ministry has a new site for connection and communication on Face Book. If you are a member ask to join our group. If you are not then consider joining by going to www.facebook.com. It is FREE and VERY SAFE. This can be an exciting place for us to stay in touch, post pictures easier and send out articles and information faster, better, and sooner. Check it out!!

In 2008 we are planning to change a few things. Starting with our source for a few of our Witnessing Tools. A new Shirt supplier is about to be chosen which will change the look and quality of our shirts and hats. We are still hoping that we can produce a Bible Study small group format for our members and make it available on the web site for Downloading. There will be several new postings soon. The BHIM (Billy Hutchinson Intentional Ministries) link is down for reconstruction and new information. I hope to finally publish the "Intentional Conversation" book VERY soon. There are some financing needs to complete the book and we are praying for a publishing partner. The book will include the CGM Manual in the back so that a printed edition of the manual will be available once again. During 2007 I developed the "I was just thinking..." Article which is printed weekly in some newspapers in Virginia and then emailed to a list of some 250 people. If you would like to receive this email article every week just email me at golfministry@comcast.net and we will add you name to the list. Also there will be a small devotional type book published of all the "I was Just Thinking" articles from 2007. Watch for the announcement of the publishing of both of these on the web site.

God has blessed our work and is setting some wonderful things in motion for 2008. Remember that I am available to lead retreats and revivals and Diane and I are still doing some concerts. So if you have a need for your church in that area please let us know.

I hope for each of you a New Beginning in 2008 and a wonderful time of growing in Christ!!

Dr. Billy Hutchinson , Executive Director-CGM/BHIM

God blessed the Southside Christian Classic in a mighty way, It was one of our best years fund raising wise for that event but more important we had 104 players and many new people were exposed to the poswer of using the CGM method for sharing Christ while play golf. Many thanks go out to Tournament Directors Tommy Walker and Wes McAden for their efforts. So many volunteers that helped them and the 104 players who shared in a wonderful time at Lake Gaston Golf Course in Southside Virginia. Plus we contributed once again to the Minister's retreat fund at Caraway conference Center. This fund will allow Ministers to have some days of releif and prayer at Caraway at discounted or no cost.
During September Diane and I were able to spend a week in Kentucky with Board Member Gary Huddleston, his wife Teresa and daughter Michelle. Gary and the Men of Immanual developed a Golf League program over the past couple of years that has open many opportunities for others to come into their church and to hear the wonderful message of Christ. The information as to how to put together such a ministry in your church will soon be posted on our web site for anyone to learn from. A special Thank you to Pastor Tony Cecil and his staff for allowing Gary to try something different, and then to celebrate it working for the Kingdom!!

GOD does move in mighty ways and with unbeleivable energy!
I sometmimes "stand amazed" at how our God really works. The activity and opportunity for His work over the last 8 months has been "God sized". All the events in the spring were great and God also delivered so many signs that He is always at work around us.
You may have already heard the news that there is a change happening in my life and ministry. The last 3 1/2 years I have served as the Senior Pastor of Lawrenceville Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Virginia. Sometime in the fall (around September) I will be stepping down as their Pastor. God has opened the door for me to spend more time with Christian Golfers Ministry and my work with the Virginia Baptist Mission Board in the Resort/Leisure and Men's Ministry. It is exciting when God calls us out. For many years I have been teaching and preaching that we should move by faith, to listen to the voice of God. To trust God in what he ask you to do, with faith and action. Well, the time has come for me to "practice what I preach". The growth of CGM and what God has done deserves more attention in order that God can and will do "more than we can imagine and hope for". The CGM web site is getting Thousands of hits each month, a record number of tees are being dropped on Golf Courses around the country. People are coming to know the Savior because of our member/partners everywhere. PRAISE BE TO GOD! It is our hope to do several things very soon. New web site opportunities, increasing the user friendliness of the site as well as providing more ministry, educational and spiritual growth opportunities. Because of some new partnerships we hope to increase the communitiy with blogging and online Christian Golfers connections across the country. The plans are in the works to develop local chapter groups that will be encouraged in prayer, passion and practice. In the summer of 2008 we are praying and planning for our first ever Summer Youth Camps. A week long golf camp for training and teaching on golf skills and Spiritual skills for Young People. Out goal in 2008 is to have at least 2 in different locations adding a new camp every year. We are also praying about developing 1-3 days golf sports clinics to be used in local churches and areas, based around the CGM message and model. Also, I will be spending more time with my consulting effort with the Virginia Baptist Mission Board in 2 areas of great passion for m, Resort/Lesiure and Men's Ministries. Allowing me the priviledge to work with the VBMB churches and ministries to help them develop into all that God has for them. Opportunities for Diane (my wife) and I to minister and share in Revivals, conferences, workshops and special ministry/mission projects are growing everyday.
Pray for CGM and all the ministries of BHIM as God has open the door may we all have the courage and faith to walk through!
As always continue to ..
walk the fairways of life for Christ
Billy Hutchinson, Executive Director CGM/BHIM

MAY/JUNE 2007

WOW! What a wonderful month in the life of CGM. God is so Good to us all and we continue to see him moving in the ministry. I am pleased to announce that my Son Will Hutchinson has begun working with CGM as a Ministry Assistant. He will be doing some of the traveling and pre-work with Tournament Directors and events as well as helping with the growth and promotion of the ministry. I am excited to be working with him and for him to have the vision for CGM. He will begin his Seminary work at Andersonville Baptist Theological Seminary in June as well as beginning the Duke University Non Profit Management Certificate program. Pray for him as he begins his work with CGM.
The Caraway Golf Event for Ministers and Layman in Asheboro, NC was a great success. We had over 90 golfers there and a wonderful time of Worship, Fellowship and fun. Steven Boggs of Wilmington, NC shared with us about his ministry and efforts to help Parents deal with Young people of addictions. Steven is also a great golfer and will be adding much to the CGM family in the future. You can connect with Steven by email at stephen@deguonlife.com or check out his web site at www.deguonlife.com . As always Derwin Hinson blessed us with great music and inspired us to be promoters of the cause of Christ. You can connect with Derwin for your church by his web site which can be found on the Links page of the CGM site. These men love the Lord and are working for the Advance of the Kingdom. Pray for them and use them in your fellowships if possible. You should mark your caledar for September 10-11, 2007 and watch this site for information of our Fall event at Caraway Conference Center and Asheboro County Club.
The Virginia Baptist Men's Golf Retreat in Lynchburg, VA at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center was wonderful also. Steven and Derwin both joined us there and we had a wonderful time. We are already planning and looking forward to next year in May at Lynchburg.
Just around the corner in July is the 12th Annual Eastern Classic in New Bern, NC. Once again Tournament Director Doug Guider is planning a first class event on Saturday the 14th of July. Registration information is avalable on the web site.
From May 20th -June 8, I will be taking some time with the Lord. This is a special time for me to reflect , review and to listen to what God might have for me, and CGM/BHIM. I hope each of you will be praying as God speaks.
Also please pray for a project of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. We are bringing in Christian Soccer Teams from Jamiaca, Itaily and Brazil to lead clinics and share Christ across Virginia. Will and I both are working with the VBMB on this project and need your prayers.
God is working and we are ready to follow him.
A suggestion for your Men's Ministry Groups. I just finished reading "A Warrior Culture" by Donny Prater. Donny is a layperson from Ahsland, Kentucky, with a deep desire for Men's Minisrty in the local church. It is a powerful book with some very thoughtful ideas. You should read it! It may change how you respond as a Christian Man and how your church might go about real Men's Ministry. You can connect with Donny through His web site which is posted currently first on our links page and order the book from there or Amazon.com
Also if you have not done so check out our new photo gallery from the home page. Will is working on this link and we are just beginning. It currently has pictures from Caraway and Lynchburg. More to come soon!
Untill next time .. Hit it long and straight and never forget to talk about the LORD every chance you get!!
Walking the Fairways for Christ....

April 2007

It often seems like time passes so fast! With some new systems in place I hope to psot this newsletter as least every 2 months. I will be sending out email alerts when it is posted where people can just link to the page. Please pray as God opens more doors than we seem to be able to get through!
In just 15 days the Annual Spring Retreat at Caraway Conference Center in Ashboro,NC will take place. We have for over 10 years worked with the conference Center as a Co-Spnsor of this event. This year there are some major changes. Caraway has a desire to open the conferencer for Pastors and their families for time of vacation, rest and reflection. A portions of the proceeds from this event will go to make scholarships available to Pastors who may need the time, but may not have the funds for vacation or reflection. This is a worthy project and CGM is in full support of the event. We have now joined with Caraway to handle all the administrative parts of the event as well as the Golf event itself. We are also going to provide part of the proceeds from our Fall event in September for this cause. So if you are not able to come please mark your prayer calendars for April 23-24 as we gather at Asheboro.
You may notice that we are beginning to partner with several other ministries. Check out the new Books avaiable and recommended by CGM on our "pro shop" link. Also check out the new link for the Online Christian Golfers community. As we begin to work with these people we hope that it will be a way for you to connect with other Christian Golfers across the country.
We are also praying and beginning work with Meadowridge Baptist Church in CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA. God may be opening a wonderful door there. You will hear and see more later.

There are several uncoming events: May 7-8 the Virginia Baptist Men's golf retreat at Eagle Eyrie inLynchburg, VA, The Pastor's Conference Tournament for the Tidewater Area in Virginia on June 22, The 12th Annual Eastern Classic in New Bern, NC on July 14th and the Southside Christian Classic at Lake Gaston County Club in VA on August 11. There will be a Tournament again this year in Coastal-Eastern NC, watch for those dates and information.
Also to be released soon (this summer, early fall) as plan for local chapters that will assist in fellowship and meaning for our parnters all over the country.
Thanks you for your support and prayer over the years. As we start our 15th year, God is leading for us to see CGM to a new level of ministry. Your prayers are the most important part of that launch. Keep praying, keep playing for the Savior!

God Bless you and keep you as you walk the fairways of life for Christ.

Billy Hutchinson
Executive Director CGM

Archived Newsletter...

2005

Christian Golfers Ministry has a great new year planned. Many events old and new are on the calendar and new opportunities to teach and help people use the ministry are in the works.

One of the most exciting ministry opportunities for this year is the Ministry with the Sandhills Baptist Association in Pinehurst for the 2005 US Open. Together we are planning special parking lot ministries, special Saturday evening Vespers in motels and great Outreach information in the hands of approx. 500 visitors.

Also this year is the 10th Anniversary of our New Bern Coastal Classic. Doug Guider our Tournament Director there is working hard to make this one great event. It will be hard to top the first 9 events. He has done a wonderful job making this a strong fund raiser and fun time for the many who play each here. Sign up and come for this really special time 10th year.
Another new event will be the Jacksonville NC event and the Co Sponsor with Virginia Baptist Men in Williamsburg. Check out the tournament listings on the web site.

Also this year because of the Southside Virginia Classic we will give our first CGM Scholarship to a Virginia young person. It will be small but it is a start. We also hope to extend this into our North Carolina events.

CGM is a nationwide ministry with many people using the ministry across the county. Yet all of our major event have seemed to be based out of NC and VA. If you live and worship in South Carolina Georgia Fla. Or for that matter any State and would like to help sponsor an event that will assist the ministry, please contact me. We want to help you and to expand God’s work.
We are all praying for our troops. In this time when there are so many needs I want you to know that we are involved. Doug Guider was able to make a connection through his church with a Chaplain and we sent 100 Books of John ( just like the ones we carry to him for his ministry with our US soldiers.
Please pray for CGM as we work to help regular people reach regular people for the Savior on and off the fairways of life this year.

God Bless you and keep you as you walk the fairways of life for Christ.

Billy Hutchinson

2004

Another year is quickly coming to a close. It has been a wonderful year with many changes in my life. January came with a move for our family from the coast of North Carolina to Southside Virginia. Serving now as Pastor of Lawrenceville Baptist church where we have seen a great movement of God and the assurance that God was in control and once again proved “He knew what he was doing”! We have been blessed! Our family has settled somewhat and is moving toward an exciting year ahead in 2005.

Christian Golfers has once again experienced a wonderful year of God's blessings. The events in the spring we great and the reaching of Christ message was present. It has now been our privilege to so-sponsor with Caraway conference Center (Asheboro, NC) for 11 years now each April and to work again with them for the CGM Annual Conference in September (9/13-14,2004). Doug Guider did an outstanding job again with the New Bern Tournament. It was our 9th year and He has some wonderful plans for the 10th anniversary of that tournament next year.

We are now going through and trying to contact every person who has ever been in contact with us, as members, in conferences, at mission fairs, anywhere. This attempt is to up date our records, provide excitement for the ministry and to move the ministry toward a new day. You may be hearing from us so look for it. Also we are continuing to work on this web site. Thanks to a friend Shawn Haws and the work of our web master John Proctor of NB web in New Bern we now have the Video available on the web site. It takes a little time to down load but it is worth the effort. We are also working on doing a better job with links to other sites and soon the order information for the pro shop will be posted. We also hope to soon have an active photo gallery on the site.

Thank you all for 11 years of support in prayer and ministry. Your efforts have seen many come closer to Christ and many come to know Him for the first time. Keep sharing the Lord every time you play and looking for ways to reach them.

God Bless you all,
Walking the Fairways of Life for Christ together
